After Dinner Speakers: Ted Dexter, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise

Edward Ralph Dexter was born in Milan in 1935 and played for England from 1958. A ferocious hitter of the ball Ted Dexter frightened close fielders with his aggressive style of batting. Test career statistics of 4502 runs at an average of 47.89 combined with 66 wickets with his medium fast right arm, make Ted Dexter one of the great English all rounders. After a first class cricket career foreshortened to peruse other interests, Ted finally returned to the game in various administrative roles. An uncharacteristically unsuccessful term as Chairman of Selectors belies the true talent and character of the man. Ted Dexter CBE remains a true gentleman and a thoroughly knowledgeable professional from the world of cricket
