After Dinner Speakers: Liza Tarbuck, James Hewitt, Robin Knox-Johnston

Liza Tarbuck is established as one of the best known faces on television She presented the highly successful Channel 4 show She's Gotta Have It for two series and then spent a year enjoying the freedom of live television as co-host with Johnny Vaughan on The Big Breakfast. She played the title role of Linda Green in the BBC1 TV Drama, which was so successful that a second series was immediately commissioned. The final episode was shown at Christmas 2002 (20 episodes in total). Her other acting credits include the role of Donna in The League of Gentlemen, Mrs Barrymore in The Hound of the Baskervilles, Pamela in six series of Watching for Granada TV - regularly getting viewing figures of over 13 million - and Angie in Tumbledown for the BBC. Other credits include hosting Without Prejudice for Channel 4, Blockbusters for Sky TV and I Suppose You Think That's Funny for ITV2. She also presented Time Team, Music for the Millennium and Burnt Bits for Channel 4, Passport To The Sun and The Weekend Show for the BBC, Round The Houses and Homemaker for Anglia TV and Soap Fever for Granada TV. Liza nearly drowned when she was a baby when she wandered off from her parents, up to the edge of a deep weir. Luckily, her dog found her, picked her up by her plastic pants and took her home. While at school she was a key player in the lacrosse team. Once she was playing five-a-side lacrosse in the gym and knocked Jesus' head off the crucifix that was above the door. All the nuns at first thought she had done it on purpose. When Liza was studying for A-levels they had a photo of the whole school taken. Liza wore a huge false nose which didn't go down well when the picture was developed. The joke backfired as she was hauled before the headmaster and ordered to pay for the photo to be taken again. Liza joined the National Youth Theatre and went to RADA where she studied for two and a half years. She earned her Equity card as an assistant stage manager for the mime company, Theatre de Complicite. Her jobs whilst at school and college include Saturday girl on a fruit and veg stall, sales assistant in the toy department at Harrods and touring with several plays. She also used to work in the kitchen of a restaurant where she made puddings and salads and cleaned pots. She wanted to be an artist when she left school but as her older sister went to art school first, Liza chose drama school instead. Liza loves transforming any flat surface into a mosaic she also loves painting and is a keen DIYer. One of her favourite books is The Hobbit. Her current favourite comedy shows are Frazier and The League of Gentlemen. She also loves dogs, gardens, curios, presents, lounge music, reading, power tools, chatting, Star Trek, curries, colours and banter. She dislikes the dentist, snotty eggs, tongue sandwiches, answering the same tired old questions for 30 years (sorry but I do) and having her photo taken.
