After Dinner Speakers: Hank Marvin, Ronnie Ancona, Peter Snow

Hank Marvin was one of the founder members of the Shadows when they formed as The Drifters in 1958 to back Cliff Richard and was the only ever-present member of the line-up until their final performances together in 1990. The influences of Bruce, Jet, Brian and John are well regarded by fans but to the general public, the man most responsible for the sound of the Shadows was Hank Marvin. With his trademark of Red Fender Stratocaster guitar and Buddy Holly style glasses, it was Hank that was copied by teenagers of the era, often having to make do with cricket bats and tennis racquets as instruments. Hank has made more recent appearances on television, such as the Naked Gun/Red Rock Cider commercials when Lt Frank Drebin, played by Leslie Neilson, asked 'That man in the Shadows' to accompany him. Out stepped Hank, still an instantly recognisable figure.
